Our Culinary Arts Program Campers (CAPs) will develop skills in a hands-on program intended to encourage their creativity under the instruction of a professional Culinary Arts instructor. CAPs will explore baking and cooking, receive training in sanitation and food safety, proper tool and equipment use, food preparation, nutrition and health, meal planning, introductory dining in a variety of food service settings, units of measurement and conversion, food safety procedures and hygiene, and international cuisine.
CAPs will participate in a fieldtrip to professional kitchen, enjoy a quality dinner off-camp, learn how to choose produce at a local farmers market and visit a traditional farm and experimental (hydroponic/aquaponic) gardening center.
With friendly competitions judged by Counselors and Campers, all will enjoy the results of this exciting new program.
When not in Culinary Arts, CAPs choose from over 40 activities. Every session also includes a Talent Show, Campfires, ColorWarz games, great time with friends, and a day at one of Florida's Theme Parks. With so many choices there is plenty of variety for Campers attending one session or staying all summer.
